Classroom Computer Use Policy

The Urban Dreams computers and network, including printers, are educational tools which, if handled properly will last for many years. A few simple rules must be followed in their use. Violation of these rules will result in prohibition from use in some cases for the remainder of the year.

1. Do not eat or drink while using or sitting before the computers even during lunch.
2. Do not insert music CD's in the CDROM.
3. Do not play or download games at any time even during lunch (this includes solitaire).
4. Do not down load music at any time.
5. Do not down load programs at any time.
6. Do not print web pages without permission.
7. Do not remove equipment or parts.
8. Do not change screen savers without permission.
9. Do not change or destroy the work of others.
10. Do not check email before or after class (see below).
11. Do not "horse around" near the machines or in the class.


What are the computers for then? Here is what you can do:

1. Word process work for any class and save to floppy disc.
2. Word process and print out work for this class.
3. Search the internet for school projects (any class) during your spare time.
4. Print from the internet after receiving permission each time.
5. Check and write email before school, at my lunchtime, or after school.
6. Print email after receiving permission each time.
7. Build presentations relevant to any class during your spare time.
8. Use the Oxford English Dictionary at appropriate times.
9. Share the use with others equitably.
10. Learn and use programs on the computers such as
a. Photoshop
b. Illustrator
c. Dreamweaver
d. Power Point
e. Excel
f. Movie Maker
g. Others
