Expository Reading and Writing

ASSIGNMENTS, September 22 to September 26, 2008

Monday -
Objective: Students will broaden and deepen knowledge of the argumentative essay.
Activity
: Class finishes model essay paragraph 2. Students work on paragraph 3 using sturctual model in group setting.
Information -
Homework: Finish paragraph 3 at home if you do not do so in class.


Tuesday -
Objective:
Students will broaden and deepen knowledge of the argumentative essay.
Activity
: Students write paragraph 4 using sturtural model in group setting.
Information - final day for the second vocabulary list words. Start defining words from the second list in your groups. Start "teaching" tomorrow.
Homework: Finish paragraph 4 at home if you do not do so in class.

 

Wednesday -
Objective: Students will broaden and deepen knowledge of the argumentative essay.
Activity
: Class as a whole writes a "good concluding paragraph" following introduction.
Information - How to write a good concluding paragraph. Students "teach" the class words; the first 10.
Homework: Tell parents about Back to School Night. Have them visit Room 35!


Thurs
day -
Objective: Students will broaden and deepen knowledge of the argumentative essay.
Activity
: Final essay assignment is given. Students will "pair" to complete the assignment. Work on the idea chart.
Information - How to work in a small work group. Students "teach" the class words. The second 10.
Homework: Finish an idea chart for your essay.

Friday -
Objective: Students will broaden and deepen knowledge of the argumentative essay.
Activity
: Pairs will begin the writing process writing the first and second paragraphs. Teacher circulates helping pairs as needed.
Information
Homework: Finish the two paragraphs if you do not in class.
