Monday - "Getting to know you."
Objective: Demonstrate how learning happens. Orient students to on-line resources.
Activity
: Check out the web site: emphasis on assignment pages. Teacher tells a story and learns names.
Information - Reading quiz tomorrow.
Homework: For tomorrow be sure to read the Classroom Management Plan: There will be a quiz on the material Tuesday, tomorrow. Consider the title "How to Tame a Wild Tongue" for discussion tomorrow.


Tuesday - "Getting to know you, again."
Objective: Demonstrate how learning happens. Orient students to "reading rhetorically." Orient students to the web site with empahsis on "assignments."
Activity
: Teachers learns names; students take notes on "how." Class examines "Autobiographical Notes" beginning to read rhetorically.
Information - What is reading rhetorically?

 

Wednesday -
Objective: Students learn basic strategies in reading rhetorically.
Activity
:Finish your first reading of "Autobiographical notes" as an exercise in reading rhetorically. What sort of a person is James Baldwin? What audience do you think he has in mind when he writes?
Information - Review of 1st read; introduction to 2nd read.
Homework: Read on-line the grading policy.

Homework: Start a log of what you eat in any 24 hour period. Estimate the amount either in pieces (with size noted) or weight. For breakfast I ate 1/3 cup Brown Cow cream on top yogurt with 1/3 cup Granny Goode's apple blueberry granola, 5 small strawberries and 7 raspberries topped with 6 small halves of walnut; a cup of 2% milk with coffee.
