How to Make an Attachment for Email

Word processing documents:

For better or worse MicroSoft Word is the most common program. Use it if you have it.

ALWAYS save the document, no matter what program you use, as a RTF, Rich Text File.

Photos or drawings:

Save a copy of your photo or drawing as JPEG which is a file that matches the resolution of the computer screeen and the internet. It is a smaller computer file than most image files which, for instance, Photoshop or scanning programs produce.

When asked about the file size, select medium unless you need the best image you can get.

Sending the documents:

Open your email program (Yahoo or Hot Mail or other)

Address your email for sending. Always include your real name in the message text when sending to Mr. J.

Look for the "send attachments" button or link somewhere on the email page. In Yahoo scroll down and look.

Click the link. A dialogue box should open asking for the document location.

Click "Browse" and guide the attach-program to the location of your document on the computer or floppy disc just as you would look for any document on a computer. Sometimes I have to run a "find" program first to determine the location of the document I want to attach.

When you find the document, click "attach" and then, in Yahoo!, the "done" button.

The file will be sent as an attachment, all formated the same way you composed it. on your processor.

NOTE: If your word processor is incompatible with Mr. J.'s program, you will have to copy and paste the document into the text of your email. All the formatting will be lost, but the message will be able to be read.
