Student study groups

For several purposes, we will form study groups of four students each, the number of groups depending on the number of students entering the class.

Groups will form discussion groups during classtime. Often they will discuss questions prompted by the text, by the teacher or by students and will report their finding to the class at large.

Groups will also manage the homework study questions assigned by the teacher and report on overhead projector transparencies during class.

Groups will discover and present vocabulary material from The Bedford Glossary of Critical and Literary Terms to the class prior to quizzes and examinations.

Groups may also form debate teams after the initial debate.

Typically, groups are formed the first day of class and reformed at the semester. It is possible, though, for an earlier reformation to be called for by the majority of students or by the teacher, usually at the end of a marking period.
