will be formed; dates assigned.
Homework: Read "Word Choice" p. 755-788.
Prepare for a Heart of Darkness Quiz.
Tuesday -
Objective: Students
will discover connections between Moby Dick and Shakespeare; will discover
themes in Heart of Darkness.
Activity : Quiz on Heart of Darkness. Socratic Seminar of Moby
Dick.
Information -
Homework: Finish reading Heart of Darkness;
read at least one critical article on which to report and the introduction
to your edition of HD
Wednesday -
Objective: Students
will learn vocabulary and ideas connecting diction with poetry.
Activity : Teacher presents, modeling
expectations for pair/group presentations on following days.
Information -
Homework: Read " Symbol, Allegory, and Irony"
p. 837-863. One pair/group prepares intensively in order to present tomorrow.
A presentation with cogent examples, some sort of assesment (test or quiz)
and question and answer session is expected. Visual aides are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED.
