Monday - "Getting to know you."
Objective: Demonstrate how learning happens. Orient students to on-line resources.
Activity
: Assign groups. Check out the web site: emphasis on assignment pages. Teacher mentions Portrait of Dorian Gray. Teacher tells a story and learns names.
Information - Vocabualry, Course Outline, Grading Policy reading/ lecture quiz tomorrow.
Homework: Read Course Outline, Grading Policy, Vocabulary Overview for tomorrow. In an email to Mr. Jollymore at jollymore_tim@yahoo.com answer this question: "What did I do or what am I going to do about the summer assignment work?" BRING HORSES SUMMER ASSIGNMENT WEDNESDAY.


Tuesday -
Objective: "Getting to know you, again."
Activity
: Teacher demonstrates a vocabulary presentation. Teacher demonstrates learning modalities. Check out web site again, emphasis on assignment page again. Open quiz on "VL," "CMP."
Information -
Teacher assigns Portrait of Dorian Gray. What we want you to learn in this course: How to say something about literature. Things you must do in this course.
Homework: Vocabulary groups study and present three/four words from BEDFORD GLOSSARY.
BRING HORSES SUMMER ASSIGNMENT TOMORROW.

Wednesday -
Objective: Students will become familiar with and learn the uses of setting by an author of long and short fiction.
Activity
: GROUP ONE gives a vocabulary presentation. A discussion of All the Pretty Horses quotations. Groups will present common passages and divergent interpretation of the summer assignment responses.
Information - Short discussion on In-class novels. Teacher distributes Portrait of Dorian Gray.
Homework: Read Hemingway's Soldier's Home 170-175. HW: questions 1-10 for tomorrow. (Handout)


Thursday -
Objective: Students will become familiar with the Bedford and learn the uses of setting by an author of long and short fiction. Students will learn new vocabulary.
Activity
: GROUP TWO AND THREE give vocabulary presentations. We will obtain The Bedford Introduction to Literature and Sound and Sense textbooks as quickly as possible. As time allows Class review of HW. Read ee cummings 176 in class/HW.
Information - Teacher mentions Portrait of Dorian Gray introduction.
Homework: Qs 1,2on cummings poem; p 176; Andrea Lee, Anthropology, 177-185. HW: qs 1-6.

Friday -
Objective: Students will learn new vocabulary. Students will become familiar with the Bedford and learn the uses of setting by an author of long and short fiction.
Activity
: GROUP FOUR, FIVE and SIX give vocabulary presentations. Review HW
