"I can discern the type of prompt (synthesis, rhetorical or argumentative)
and plan a strategy for answering effectively."
"I can attack multiple choice questions with forsight, knowledge, restraint
and strategy all of which I can harness to build success."
Homework:
The homework this week is to spend at least an hour reading the second novel your have chosen for Late Moderns. You should be prepared to write a reading quiz sometime during the week on this book.
In addition, I ask you to team with three other students in the class, it could be five, select one reading we have not assigned or discussed in class from either Norton or 50 Essays. Read and discuss the essay in a group (outside of class) and prepare a discussion involving the class. The discussion should be either a rhetorical examination or an argumentative inquiry depending on the essay itself. Sign up with me for discussions for next week (that would be during test week). I hope to have enough groups to fill nearly all the class time. Sign up on the schedule I circulate later in the week.
